Prior to officers' arrival, the man with the gun ran away towards Wards Ferry Road.

Police say the unknown man is about 6-feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds.

The victim reported that they had been robbed by an unknown man inside their home of an undisclosed amount of money and jewelry.

Because this area is within proximity to Heritage High and Elementary schools, the decision was made to place both schools on lockdown as a precaution.

All indications are that this is an isolated incident and there does not appear to be any immediate danger to the public.

As part of this investigation, 30-year-old Sheldon Cameron Anderson, of Lynchburg has been charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

Lynchburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing this investigation, which is active and ongoing.
