83-year-old man dies after Franklin County crash

Victim died nearly two weeks after crash

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – A Glade Hill man is dead weeks after a Franklin County two-vehicle crash, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash happened on September 28 at 5 p.m. on Route 40 at its intersection with Twilight Lane when police say a 1995 Ford Ranger traveling east on Route 40 attempted to pass another vehicle also traveling east. The Ranger struck a 1999 Ford Ranger making a left turn from Twilight Lane onto Route 40.

The 1995 Ford Ranger was driven by 59-year-old Dean Arnot, of Glade Hill, who was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.  

The 1999 Ford Ranger was driven by 83-year-old Lee Hunt Harrison, of Glade Hill, who was also wearing his seatbelt. He was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for injuries received in the crash. He died at 10:54 p.m. on October 10 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Arnot was charged with improper passing.

Police say the crash remains under investigation.
