DUNCAN, S.C. – A South Carolina school bus driver is being called a hero after getting 56 children off a bus, just seconds before it burst into flames.
The bus caught fire at about 7 a.m.
Spartanburg School District 5 officials say two students in the back of the bus told the driver they saw smoke.
That's when bus driver Teresa Stroble sprang into action to get the students off the bus and away from danger.
The district's superintendent, Dr. Scott Turner, said Stroble did all that in less than a minute.
Stroble has been a school bus driver for 10 years, and she's also a teacher assistant at an elementary school in the district.
There's an investigation underway to determine what caused the bus to catch fire.Â
