Martinsville – A furniture warehouse in Martinsville caught fire Saturday evening in Martinsville. Firefighters continue working to extinguish massive blazes at the old furniture store on 201 Aaron Street in Martinsville.

The business Bargains Galore is owned by John Martin. The building the business is in belongs to Fred Martin and Associates. According to Chief Ted Anderson with Martinsville Fire and EMS, neither the owner of the business or building had insurance.

The business was closed at the time the fire started just after 5 p.m.

Emergency dispatchers say fire crews expect the blaze to last for several hours into the night. No other houses or structures are believed to be in danger of the fire. No injuries have been reported. Multiple area fire departments remain on scene as firefighters work to control the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The funding for this large of an investigation is usually relied heavily upon the insurance company. Anderson says this will add delays and complications to the investigation.

Deputy Emergency Manager Bobby Scott contacted the National weather service to confirm no lightning strikes within the City of Martinsville prior to the fire. Anyone having any information that is valuable to the investigation please contact Deputy Fire Marshal Andy Powers at (276) 403-5205.
