Two displaced after Roanoke County house fire

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – Two people are displaced after a house fire in Roanoke County on Friday morning, according to the Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Department.

Authorities said the fire started around 8:38 a.m. in the 8500 block of Bent Mountain Road in the Back Creek area.

When crews arrived, they said they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the garage and rear of the one-story home.

Two adults were home at the time and they were able to evacuate safely, officials said. They will be displaced.

Crews said they were able to knock down the fire in about 20 minutes.

The fire caused significant damage to the home, authorities said.

Crews had to close down a portion of the road due to a lack of hydrants in the area, which forced them to use tanker trucks and drop tanks as a part of a rural water supply operation.
