SALEM, Va. – One person is injured after a house fire in Salem Friday afternoon.
At about 4:19 p.m., the Salem Fire & EMS Department responded to a structure fire at 1701 Victoria Street.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the house.
Officials said there was heavy fire located in the basement that extended to the first floor. The house sustained heavy fire and smoke damage throughout.
The fire was brought under control within 35 minutes.
Two residents were home at the time of the fire and were able to escape. One of the residents sustained a non-life-threatening injury and was treated on the scene.
