SALEM (WSLS 10) - A 9-year-old Salem girl looked no further than her own dog for inspiration to make a difference in this world. Eva Brown and her friends are raising awareness about product testing on dogs, specifically beagles.

They started making flyers to hand out to people, letting them know which products use beagles for testing. The information Brown is using comes from a national organization called the Beagle Freedom Project.

Back on Valentine's Day, the group set up outside of the Salem Chick-fil-A to pass out information.

"We have a beagle, Buddy, that's 12-years-old and then when we found out they were using beagles we were just heart broken. We started doing some research and then Eva took off, because she was so, so distraught over what they were doing to these dogs, like her dog," Angela Brown, Eva's mom, explained.

"Whenever I look at him I see - how could they use [products] on Buddy," Eva said.

To date Eva and her friends have raised nearly a $1,000 to help combat the issue using the Beagle Freedom Project's fundraising page.
