No injuries in fire at Producers Peanuts facility in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (AP) — Authorities say no one was injured in a fire that broke out at a Producers Peanuts facility in Suffolk.

Suffolk city spokeswoman Diana L. Klink says the fire was reported at 5:41 a.m. Friday. Flames were visible through the roof at the rear of the facility’s production area when firefighters arrived.

Klink says in a news release that the fire involved processed peanut hulls and skins.

Firefighters brought the fire under control at 6:30 a.m.

Klink says the facility hadn’t started operations when the fire began and an evacuation wasn’t necessary.

The fire’s cause is under investigation.
