3 men suffer serious burns in flash fire near Cheyenne

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Three men have suffered serious burns in a flash fire at an oil company facility near Cheyenne.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/1ThheHl ) the men were performing welding work on a Kaiser-Francis Oil Company facility northeast of Cheyenne on Monday morning when the fire erupted.

Laramie County Fire District 2 Operations Chief Manny Muzquiz says some natural gas left in the system exploded. He says all three men suffered burns on 20 to 30 percent of their bodies.

One man was transferred to the Western States Burn Center at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado, by helicopter.

Muzquiz says the other two men were transported by ground ambulance to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center but both were expected to be transported to the Colorado facility.
