Virginia Tech looks for depth at wide receiver

BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10 SPORTS) - Spring practice gives coaches a chance to move players around and make position adjustments. The quarterback competition is underway but another offensive question mark is at wide receiver.

"My biggest concern is that we will find somebody to play quarterback and we won't be good enough around him to highlight their skill set. Last year we didn't have that problem. Jerod (Evans) played really well for us and we had people around him to help highlight those skill sets," said Hokies head coach Justin Fuente.

As the Hokies look to replace Isaiah Ford and Bucky Hodges, sophomore Eric Kumah has been taking plenty of reps in practice and has been working to fill the void.

"I'm happy to know I can play this year and have the opportunity just like all the other receivers, we go out there every practice trying our hardest just to be the man and get that spot. I'm way more ready because I feel like I'm more mature now since I've been here I've learned a lot from guys like Isaiah and Bucky and Cam is still here to help mentor me, he's like an older brother to me, so I feel like I'm good," explained Kumah.

Returning at wide receiver is Cam Phillips who is a proven leader and continues to anchor the receivers room this spring.
