Student suspected of planning shooting spree at Frederick County school

Lowell Melser, WBAL – THURMONT, Md. (WBAL) - An 18-year-old Maryland high school student is facing multiple charges after investigators uncovered an alleged plan to carry out an attack on Catoctin High School.

Nichole Cevario, of Thurmont, will be charged with possession of explosive material with intent to create a destructive device and possession of incendiary material with the intent to create a destructive device.

Cevario, was immediately removed from class was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for an emergency mental health evaluation, the Sheriff's Office said.

Evidence recovered from her home revealed that she was actively acquiring materials needed to execute the plot. Those items included a shotgun with ammunition, bomb-making materials to include pipes with end caps, shrapnel, fireworks, magnesium tape and fuse material.

"I've never seen anything like this, to be honest with you," Frederick County Sheriff Charles Jenkins said. "It shocks the conscious to see someone of that age could be thinking like that."
