Woman hospitalized after early Saturday-morning shooting in Roanoke

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke police are investigating after a shooting in Roanoke on Saturday.

At about 3:45 a.m., police were dispatched to a shots fired call in the 3600 block of Ferncliff Avenue NW.

Officers say they found two vehicles at the scene which had been hit by gunfire. There was blood inside the driver's side area of one of the vehicles.

Dispatch made officers aware that 23-year-old Whitney Nicole Moyer, of Roanoke, had been brought into the emergency room at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by a private vehicle, according to the Roanoke Police Department.

She suffered non-life threatening wounds to her lower extremities.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

Police originally incorrectly told WSLS 10 they identified the victim as 44-year-old Naomi Sunshine Bolden. This story has been updated to fix that error.
