Vinton getting ready for 8th annual senior expo

VINTON (WSLS 10) - Town leaders in Vinton are getting ready for the 8th annual Senior Services Expo.

Sixty-eight vendors will be featured at the expo on Tuesday. They will have exhibits ranging from retirement and assisted living, medical equipment, health screenings and Tai Chi classes.

It's sponsored by the Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce. The chamber's executive director says the free event is not just for senior citizens.

"Even those of us that have aging parents, it's a good idea to come just to see so you're not in the rush when something bad happens or somebody falls or someone passes away. That you're not in the rush and make crazy decisions, so you can get the information now, think it over, talk it over with your family members," said Angie Chewning, Executive Director of the Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce.

The expo is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vinton War Memorial. In past years, the chamber says they've had about 2,500 people to attend.
