Man and woman injured during shooting in South Boston

SOUTH BOSTON (WSLS 10) - A man and woman are injured during a South Boston shooting. According to police it happened just after midnight on Sunday.

Police say just after midnight, Officer J. George of the South Boston Police Department reported hearing gunshots in the area of Poplar Creek Street in South Boston.  About 3 minutes after the officer reported hearing shots fired, a call came in from the Glendale Drive area of South Boston that someone had been shot at.  Officers J. George, B. Smith and Corporal C. Mann responded and met with a 23-year-old man who had an apparent minor injury from a gunshot.  The man was examined by first responders, but declined any further treatment.

Moments later, police were notified by Sentara Halifax Regional Emergency Room that two people who arrived by private vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds were being treated.

A 23-year-old man and a 24 -year-old woman were treated for apparent gunshot wounds before both were airlifted to Duke Hospital for treatment of their injuries.  At this time their condition is not known.  The scene at Glendale Drive was processed and a vehicle was seized from the parking lot of Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital to be processed for potential evidence as well.

This incident is currently still under investigation.
