ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - The Roanoke Valley SPCA held its 5th annual Tail Chaser 5K and one mile walk Saturday.
Organizers said more than 300 runners and walkers came out to the family-friendly event, along with nearly 100 dogs.

The event is one of the biggest fundraisers for the Roanoke Valley SPCA.
"As a non-profit, we rely on the generosity of donors and community members like the runners and the walkers who were out today for all of our funds and so that helps provide lifesaving medical care, important spay/neuters, surgeries, food, shelter, the electricity to keep them warm, everything," said Denise Hayes, Chief Executive Officer of the Roanoke Valley SPCA.
