Tail Chaser run and walk set for Saturday morning

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Helping the Roanoke Valley SPCA continue its mission to create a community where there are no homeless cats or dogs.

Saturday at 10 a.m. it's the 5th annual Tail Chaser 5k and 1 Mile Fun Walk.

The family-friendly event features one of the first spring races in Roanoke, as well as one of a few races that allow you to participate with your pet.

Each year, the Tail Chaser is one of the biggest fundraisers for the Roanoke Valley SPCA. All well-behaved canines with proof of vaccination are welcome to attend.

"Very excited about it and if anybody wants to come, it is not too late, we are doing registration from 8:30 to 9:45. At 9:30 we will have the blessing of the dogs, so if they get there a little bit earlier and they want to bring their pooch pal to walk or run with them they can still do it," said Sylvie Peterson, with the SPCA.

The race is at Wasena Smith and Vic Thomas Parks along the Roanoke Greenway.

WSLS 10 is a proud sponsor of the event and our very own Rachel Lucas will be emceeing.

The first 150 dogs registered will receive a free WSLS 10 dog bandanna.
