(WSLS 10) - A new sandwich shop comes to Blacksburg today. Jersey Mike's Subs will open South Main Street. The restaurant has distributed 15,000 coupons, offering a free sub for a minimum $2 contribution to the Intellectual Disabilities Agency of the New River Valley. The restaurant will open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

An economic development announcement takes place today in Henry County. The Henry County Economic Development Corporation will be made this morning at 10 a.m. at the Bassett Design Studio, which is next to Bassett Furniture's corporate headquarters.

Installation begins for a new mural in Roanoke. It will be placed on columns on the Interstate 581 bridge at Tazewell Avenue. Each panel of the mural will feature wildflowers, landmarks, mountains and cultural and recreational assets of the region. Installation continues through the 30th with a dedication ceremony scheduled for the 31st.

Carilion Clinic teams up with Roanoke City Parks and Recreation and the Appalachian Center for Wilderness Medicine to holds a moving water safety course. The course will help people identify moving water hazards and show how to work with water safety equipment. It's from noon to 2 p.m. at Wasena Park.

The annual Virginia Emergency Management Symposium begins today in Williamsburg. It's a chance for emergency managers from across the Commonwealth to come together and build relationships and share best practices. Governor Terry McAuliffe is expected to make opening remarks before a discussion about how drones can be used in emergency response.

Roanoke County Administrator Thomas Gates holds a community meeting tonight to lay out his proposed budget for the county. The $186 million proposal keeps tax rates the same. Employees would see a 1.5 percent pay increase, but some changes to benefits. The largest part of the budget it for schools, with the county providing $68.1 million.
