CARROLL COUNTY (WSLS 10) - A 9-year old girl was shot Tuesday night, according to the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies from the Sheriff's Office were called to a residence in the 8000 block of Wards Gap Road on Tuesday night just after 10 p.m. for a reported accidental gunshot.
The responding Deputy found a 9-year old girl shot through the right arm and appeared to have injuries to her left hand as well.
The Sheriff's Office says the initial statement from the child's father and another sibling indicated they were attempting to clean the firearm when it discharged. Cana Rescue took the 9-year old to Brenner's Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. The investigation is continuing.
