(WSLS 10) – Delegate Sam Rasoul holds a town hall meeting today. He will talk about the 2017 legislative session and other issues. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at the Roanoke Higher Education Center. Rasoul represents the 11th district in the House of Delegates, which covers most of Roanoke City.
The Lynchburg Parking Authority holds a special meeting today. It will talk about continuing the paid parking program in the Community Market Parking Lot. The board will also hear a presentation from Passport Parking about payments made by mobile phone.
The Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance will make an announcement today about its future headquarters. The future facility is located off of Court Street at the former James River Conference Center. The first phase calls for renovating 8,000 square feet of the existing building.
The Roanoke Valley Greenway Commission holds the first of several meetings today as it looks to update its greenway plan. The plan was last updated in 2007. Since then, over 200 miles of trails have been added and Botetourt County joined the commission. Today’s meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Greenfield Center in Botetourt County.
Danville’s City Manager will present his budget to city council tonight. The Council must hold a public hearing on the budget before the end of April with public comment being accepted before the final budget is adopted. The new budget year begins on July 1st.
The Commonwealth Transportation Board begins a series of public input meetings today. The public will have the chance to talk about transportation projects that have been recommended for funding. Comments will be used to help the board develop its six-year improvement program. Tonight’s meeting starts at 5:30 at the Holiday Inn Valley View.
The Franklin Center holds a career and resource fair today. The fair runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Nearly three dozen schools and businesses are expected to attend, with some accepting applications.
