Bedford man facing charges after weekend shooting

BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS 10) - One Bedford man is behind bars after a weekend shooting.

The Bedford County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened on Sunday on Hale Street in Goodview.

When deputies arrived they heard screaming coming from the residence and found a woman who had been shot.

Upon investigation, it was determined that Ronald Lumsden had come to the home and shot the woman twice during a struggle. Lumsden then left the scene in a pick-up truck.

While deputies attended to the woman officers with the Town of Bedford found the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

Lumsden was arrested without incident and taken to the Adult Detention Center in Bedford where he was charged with Felonious Assault/Malicious Wounding, Violation of a Protective Order and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony by the Bedford County Sheriff's Office.

He is being held without a bond.

The woman was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.
