VT Women Advance in WNIT

BLACKSBURG  (WSLS-10 SPORTS)  The Virginia Tech women's basketball team bounced visiting Rider 76-62 in the opening round of the WNIT.

"This time of year the motto is just survive and advance," said head coach Kenny Brooks. "I thought we did just that. I thought we played really well in the first half. We came out and had good energy."

Regan Magarity  put up 25 points and 12 rebounds.

Chanette Hicks added 21 points, five rebounds and two assists. Samantha Hill added 19 points and  six rebounds along with four steals.

The Hokies will host Navy in a 2 p.m. game at Cassell Coliseum in the second round of the WNIT.
