Medical scribe company expanding to Danville

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - A company aimed at helping doctors spend more time with patients is expanding to Danville.

iScribes is an app which helps doctors record patient information, instead of them having to fill out lots of paperwork.

On Friday, The Launch Place announced it's investing $250,000 in the company.

iScribes is based in Durham, N.C., but the co-founders went to school at Liberty University and the University of Virginia and say they fell in love with the southwest and central Virginia regions and wanted to give back.

"We're saving doctors time and we're saving them from bringing a computer or another device into the exam room and putting it between them and the patient and hindering that relationship," said co-founder Christopher McGuire.

As of Friday, the company had not finalized plans to open an office in Danville.
