(WSLS 10) - RAMP, the Roanoke-Blacksburg Accelerator, holds an open house today. The Regional Acceleration and Mentoring Program is a new technology business accelerator, aiming to help startups in the STEM-H field. It is a partnership between Roanoke City, Virginia Western Community College and the Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council.

The Harvest Youth Board holds an informational meeting tonight. The board is student-run and focuses on youth related issues, awards grants and develops projects related to youth issues. It serves in an advisory capacity to the Harvest Foundation Board of Directors. More than 50 students attended an interest session earlier this month.

The Lynchburg City Schools Education Foundation holds its annual Breakfast with the Superintendent today. The annual event gives business and community leaders, as well as parents, the chance to see what it going on in the schools. The superintendent and assistant superintendent of student learning and success are expected to speak.

LewisGale Hospital Pulaski holds an active shooter exercise today. The drill will be used to train and prepare hospital staff in the event of an incident. The hospital says that patient care will not be affected during the drill which starts at 4 p.m.

Carilion Clinic begins a new women's health series today with a discussion about aging. "Aging Ain't for Sissies" answers questions about how to stay healthy and in your own home. Registration is required.

Roanoke Fire/EMS holds a car seat safety check today. According to the department, three out of four car seats installed by parents are not installed correctly. The safety check takes place today at fire station number six on Jamison Avenue from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Repairs are expected to begin today on a pedestrian bridge that was damaged by fire in Danville. The fire happened on Monday on the Riverwalk Trail pedestrian bridge. It was caused by a discarded cigarette getting caught in the bridge. Some planks and railing were damaged. The Parks and Recreation Department hope to reopen the bridge this weekend.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will issues its outlook for the spring season today. Experts will also highlight the Spring Weather Safety Campaign, which offers information on spring weather hazards, like tornadoes, thunderstorm wind and hail, as well as lightning and heat.
