Roanoke police investigating armed home invasion

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Roanoke police are investigating a home invasion that happened on Wednesday morning.

Police believe that at this time, this crime was not random.

The incident happened at 9:44 a.m. in the 3200 block of Forest Park Boulevard NW.

The victim, a 62-year-old woman, called 911 after she said at least one person entered her home, stole money and other items. The victim said her brother, who is 58, let the suspect in the home after he knocked on the door.

She described the suspect as a white man with a scruffy beard, wearing black pants and black sneakers and that he had what appeared to be a handgun.

The invader restrained both the victim and her brother using zip-ties, according to the woman.

After the suspect left she was able to free herself and her brother and neither of them was physically hurt.
