Two of the charges against him, obstruction of justice without force and involuntary manslaughter, were dropped.

State police said McCargo was stopped for speeding on Interstate 81 near mile marker 184 and the officer discovered he was wanted for a felony charge of credit card fraud in Caroline County.

McCargo then sped away and during the chase, he hit an embankment at the bottom of an exit ramp and spun out, according to police.

His car then crossed over the centerline and hit another car on Route 710.

McCargo was taken to the hospital, while the driver of the other car, 55-year-old Ricky Deacon, died at the scene.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 13.
