(WSLS 10) - Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute holds Brain School starting today as part of Brain Awareness Week. Scientist will talk about what they have learned about and the research that continues locally. Tonight at 5:30, a VTC researcher will talk about neuroplasticity, with additional discussions taking place throughout the week.

Patrick Henry Community College will begin accepting applications today for it Registered Nursing program. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday. The two year program prepares students fort eh state licensure exam.

The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will consider scheduling a public hearing about the former Blacksburg High School property. The county intends to sell the property to HS Development, LLC for $3 million. The developer has paid a $25,000 deposit to the county.

Part of Florida Avenue in Lynchburg will be closed each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Norfolk Southern crews will work on the railroad crossing. A detour will be in place.
