Commonwealth's Attorney calls for investigation into Rockbridge Regional Jail

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Commonwealth Attorney's Office for Rockbridge County and the City of Lexington has called for an investigation of the Rockbridge Regional Jail by the Virginia State Police.

This action is taken in collaboration with the Rockbridge County Sheriff's Office, according to an e-mail from Commonwealth's Attorney Christopher Billias.

He says that information has been gathered by his office through an initial investigation of a complaint filed by an inmate at the jail and that investigation revealed issues at the jail that require further investigation.

The Commonwealth Attorney's Office is working with the Attorney General's Office so that the Virginia State Police can undertake a full and fair investigation of these matters, according to Billias.
