(WSLS10) - The owner of a massage parlor in Radford, who is charged with sexual battery, will be in court today for a preliminary hearing. According to Radford General District Court, David Flanagan, Jr. faces more than 55 counts of sexual battery and other charges. He was arrested in December.

Roanoke Sheriff Tim Allen holds a campaign kickoff event tonight. Allen recently announced that he would seek re-election in November. He is currently serving his first term. The event begins tonight at 5:30 p.m. At the Hotel Roanoke.

EXperience, an event for young professionals, returns to the Roanoke and New River Valleys starting today. A reception takes place tonight ahead of a conference tomorrow where young professionals will see what the region has to offer for work and play. More than 200 people attended last year.

Lynchburg City Schools and the UP Foundation will present the movie "Generation Found" tonight. The movie tells the story of one community coming together, igniting a peer-driven, youth addiction recovery revolution in their town. The movie will be shown tonight at 7 p.m. at the Miller Center.

Washington and Lee University holds a panel discussion about media challenges in covering the Trump administration. "Alternative Facts and the Search for the Truth," includes reporters and editors from New York magazine and The Atlantic, as well as professors. The discussion begins at 5 p.m.

The winners of the 4th annual Black History Month Art Competition will be announced today. Lynchburg Mayor Joan Foster will join leaders from U.S. Cellular and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia to recognize the top artists. The top prize is a $500 gift card.

Animals at the Franklin County Humane Society will visit students at Ben Franklin Middle School today. Students in 7th grade science class recently collected two truck loads of pet food and supplies for the society as well as $2,500.

Virginia Tech hosts the Extreme Appalachia conference starting today. Twelve hundred people are expected to attend the four day event that explores the region's intellectual and cultural programs, music, films and more. The conference runs through Sunday.
