ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - The Thursday afternoon forest fire caused about $100,00 in damages in Roanoke County.
Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to an area off of Brushy Mountain Road for a reported forest fire.

When they arrived, they found an excavator fully engulfed in flames. The flames spread to the nearby wooded area causing a forest fire, according to the Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Department.
A small area of the land is part of the Jefferson National Forest while the rest is private property.
The Fire Marshal has determined that the fire originated in an excavator that was performing a logging job.
Approximately two acres burned.
