Construction begins on Wytheville Connector route

WYTHEVILLE (WSLS 10) - Construction is underway on the second and final phase of the Wytheville Connector from Peppers Ferry Road to Lithia Road in Wythe County.

The $3.2 million project was one of 10 projects in the 12-county Bristol district to receive funding, according to VDOT.

The project will offer an alternative route to Route 11 through the center of Wytheville. It will also provide an additional entrance to Wytheville Community College.

Construction is expected to have little impact on traffic. The project was funded through the VDOT's SMART SCALE prioritization process, which was created with the goal of improving transparency and accountability in funding the right transportation projects statewide.
