ROANOKE (WSLS 10) On Tuesday, Roanoke City Mayor Sherman Lea and Vice Mayor Anita Price joined U.S. Cellular and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia at a special ceremony to recognize the winners of the 10th Annual Black History Month art competition.
The contest invites Club members to create an original portrait of an influential African-American. Organizers said this year, the Club received hundreds of entries from which the top 10 finalists were chosen. The top 10 finalists' entries were on display at area U.S. Cellular stores in Roanoke and Salem where the public voted for their favorites during the month of February.

The top drawings were announced:
- First Place - Nicole Carrier, 10th Grade, 16, Patrick Henry HS for her portrait of Rosa Parks
- Second Place - Jada Nicole Legans, 6th Grade, 12, Jackson Middle School for her portrait of Martin Luther King Jr.
- Third Place (tie) - Tyler Turner, 9th Grade, 14, Patrick Henry HS for a portrait of Jackie Robinson, and Elijah Allen, 6th Grade, 11, Homeschooled for a portrait of Muhammad Ali
U.S. Cellular also donated 10 tablets to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia.
