Student art decorates Centertown Bedford

BEDFORD (WSLS 10) - The streets of Bedford are now an outdoor art gallery.

About 50 banners are now hanging from light poles in Centertown.

They were hand-painted by art students and teachers at Bedford County Public Schools.

Sara Smith, with Bedford Main Street Incorporated, said they started working on the partnership in the fall.

"It's winter. It's cloudy. There's not much color going around. So to see these banners come up it breathes new life and got you excited for spring coming up," said Smith.

The artists coated the banners to help protect their work from the elements. They'll be on display through March for Youth Art Month.
