Danville library encouraging people to "go green" with Kindle giveaway

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - The Danville Public Library is trying to encourage people to read more and become more environmentally friendly at the same time.

As part of its "Go Green" initiative for the month of March, the library is giving people a chance to win a Kindle.

To be eligible, you have to either get or renew a library card, join the Friends of the Library organization, or answer a trivia question at the library.

The deadline to enter the contest is March 31.

Library Director Joe Zappacosta said the goal is to get more people using the library.

"The overall idea is that by using the library, you're going green; that you're using resources over and over. So, we share a lot of things," Zappacosta explained.

He said the library held a similar Kindle giveaway in January and it was successful, so he anticipates the "Go Green" giveaway to be successful.

"It's usually a pretty popular thing," said Zappacosta. "It usually draws out people who were on the fence about getting a library card."

The winner will be announced April 1.
