Crews stop Roanoke County house fire

ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Roanoke County Fire & Rescue crews responded to a reported house fire on Thursday afternoon.

Damage estimates are figured at $175,000.

At about 12:15 p.m., crews received the call for a fire in the 8100 block of Golden Oak Lane.

When the first crews arrived, they reported heavy fire coming from a single-story house.

Fire crews from the Hollins, North County, and Masons Cove Stations all responded to the fire and were told a woman lived there, although neighbors were not sure if she was home.

Firefighters searched the home and could find no one there.

The homeowner soon returned and advised no one else was inside the house.

Firefighters were able to get the fire knocked down in about 30 minutes and are now working on overhaul. A neighbor called 911 to report the house on fire with flames showing.

There were no injuries reported.
