Update: Crews say no one was hurt in the fire.
ALTAVISTA (WSLS 10) - The fire is out and firefighters are now in what's known as the mop up stage at Altavista Appliance, where they're working to make sure all of the hot spots are out.
Firefighters were first called to 606 7th Street just after 2:20 this morning.
The fire inspector says when crews arrived, the building was fully involved with flames shooting up out of the roof.
WSLS 10's Erin Brookshire spoke with the owners who say at this point there's no word on what started the fire.
They said their next step is to rebuild-- something that will take some time as his building is a total loss.
"The biggest problem we actually had with the fire was the building itself," explains Chief John Tucker. "The way it had been added onto throughout the years, there were different roofs inside of each other."
About five to seven Altavista fire crews are still on scene. They'll continue working throughout the morning as the heavy wind we've seen throughout the night continues this morning.
The heavy wind definitely plays a big impact as they're working to pit out the fire. It fuels the flames and increases the risk of an ember starting another fire somewhere else.
We can expect the cleanup process to be underway for the next several hours before investigators begin working to determine what started this fire.
