Team coverage: Tracking severe weather in Southwest Virginia

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - We are tracking severe weather as it moves into our area.

We're also following a handful of early school closings including Montgomery, Roanoke and Pulaski Counties-- which are closing two hours early.

This afternoon, showers and thunderstorm develop. Some storms could turn severe. The main threat will be damaging wind. Large hail is possible. There is a low risk for a tornado.

Tonight: Gradually clearing… windy with lows in the 30s and lower 40s

Thursday: Mainly sunny and windy with highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s

Friday: Partly cloudy and windy with a few sprinkles and flurries possible… highs in the middle 40s

Saturday: Sun & clouds with highs in the lower 50s

Sunday: Mainly sunny with highs in the lower 60s

Monday: Increasing clouds with a few showers possible…highs in the upper 60s

Tuesday: Scattered showers possible with highs in the middle 60s
