Team coverage: Tracking severe weather in Southwest Virginia

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) – We are tracking severe weather as it moves into our area.

We’re also following a handful of early school closings including Montgomery, Roanoke and Pulaski Counties– which are closing two hours early.

This afternoon, showers and thunderstorm develop. Some storms could turn severe. The main threat will be damaging wind. Large hail is possible. There is a low risk for a tornado.
Tonight: Gradually clearing… windy with lows in the 30s and lower 40s
Thursday: Mainly sunny and windy with highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s
Friday: Partly cloudy and windy with a few sprinkles and flurries possible… highs in the middle 40s
Saturday: Sun & clouds with highs in the lower 50s
Sunday: Mainly sunny with highs in the lower 60s
Monday: Increasing clouds with a few showers possible…highs in the upper 60s
Tuesday: Scattered showers possible with highs in the middle 60s
