DANVILLE (WSLS 10) – A Danville councilman is trying to bring a popular ride-share service to the city.
Lee Vogler is reaching out to Lyft to let the company know the city is interested in its service.
Lyft already operates in Roanoke, Lynchburg and Blacksburg.
The company acts like a taxi service. You use the Lyft app to tell the company you need a ride and the app finds the nearest Lyft driver and sends them to pick you up.
“I’ve had a lot of citizens bring this over, really, the past year or so; about wanting to have that on-demand ride-share service in our city whether it be Lyft or Uber,” Councilman Vogler said.
He said council is also discussing possibly passing a resolution to express the city’s interest in ride-share services.
