(WSLS 10) - Part of 5th Street in Lynchburg will close tonight between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Crews will work on water and sewer lines. A detour will be set up.

Have Coffee with a Cop today in Bedford County. The program gives allows people and police officers to come together to talk about issues and build relationships. Officers will be at the Forest Square McDonalds from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. An award will also be given to two people for their support of the Safe Surfin' Foundation.

Danville Mall launches Color for a Cause. It's an event that raises money and awareness about local organizations. Some of the organizations to be features tonight include Danville Cares, the Salvation Army and the Southside Virginia Wildlife Center.

An informational meeting takes place tonight about a citizen science water monitoring program in Roanoke. The city's Stormwater Division and Clean Valley Council are partnering to start the program that focuses on the Roanoke River and its tributaries. Volunteers will take samples of streams to determine its ecological health.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting about the Atlantic Coast Pipeline today. The commission is taking comments about the draft Environmental Impact Statement it issued last year. According to the statement, the pipeline would result in temporary and permanent environmental impacts, some being adverse. But, the report says that the plan minimizes the effects. The meeting starts at 5:00 at the Highland Center in Monterey.

Virginia State Parks holds the Virginia Gift Show starting today. The event connects wholesalers with retailers. The show features items ranging from apparel, souvenirs, toys and jewelry. It's today and tomorrow at the Wytheville Meeting Center.

Roanoke County Schools holds a community meeting tonight about opioid and heroin addiction. The meetings feature people law enforcement, parents and people recovering from addiction. They will talk about how youth get prescription medication, abuse and resources for help. Tonight's meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Glenvar High School. There is another session Thursday at William Byrd.

The Blacksburg Museum and Cultural Foundation holds a lecture tonight on the historic case of Loving vs. Virginia. Virginia Tech history professor Peter Wallenstein will talk about the case of an interracial couple, living in Virginia, when interracial marriage was against the law. The lecture starts at 6:30 p.m. at St. Luke and Odd Fellows Hall.

A Galax man accused of murdering a mother and her 21 month old daughter, will be sentenced today on child pornography charges today. Richard Nofsinger agreed to plead guilty in federal court to three counts of manufacturing child pornography. Investigators say that they recovered videos from Nofsinger's cell phone in which he exploits at least two victims. He will spend at least 15 years in prison and could spend up to 90 years for these charges. The murder case against Nofsinger is still pending.
