Coloring event helping raise awareness about Southside organizations

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - People in Southside are helping raise awareness about several local organizations by coloring.

On Tuesday evening, the first-ever Color For A Cause was held inside the Danville Mall.

People helped color banners for five organizations. They could also use their shopping receipts to help collect points for the organizations.

The organization with the most points at the end won $500.

"One of the things we wanted to do was increase the number of great, inspiring, first class community events that we're holding in the mall," said Coles Doyle, the marketing manager for the company that owns the mall. "So, Color For A Cause was a way of engaging the community, bringing people out to the mall, and also educating everyone."

Judges decided which banner was the best and that banner will now be enlarged, printed, and posted as a mural inside the mall on the lower level.
