Police: Three arrested for having weapons in Botetourt County

BOTETOURT COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Virginia State Police arrested three men and seized illegal drugs, guns and cash after a traffic stop in Botetourt County on Sunday.

At 3:05 p.m., a state trooper stopped a northbound 2007 Mazda for driving too fast. The trooper's radar recorded the vehicle traveling at 75 mph in the posted 60 mph zone. During the course of the traffic stop, the trooper noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The trooper said a search of the vehicle yielded two illegal, concealed firearms, cocaine, prescription pills, hash oil, more than a pound of marijuana and more than $4,700 in cash. Further investigation revealed the three occupants had left Radford, and were heading to Richmond.

The driver, Kyle H. Webb, 22, of Springfield, Va., was charged with speeding and possession of marijuana.

Trechon D. Hunter, 24, of Richmond, Va., was charged with possession of a concealed firearm.

Spencer W. Townsend, 25, of Richmond, Va., was charged with possession of a gun with a Schedule I-II drug, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

The driver and passengers were transported to the Botetourt County Jail, where Hunter and Townsend are being held without bond. Webb was released on bond.
