Police: Man charged for making social media threats against Lynchburg bank

LYNCHBURG (WSLS 10) - Lynchburg police arrested a man they say made threats on social media against the Bank of America on Langhorne Road.

On Tuesday police responded to bank, at 2200 Langhorne Road, in reference to a possible social media threat.

The investigation revealed that the suspect, later identified as David Eugene Bennett, had made threats on social media against the bank, according to police.

Bennett was located at the business and taken into custody without incident. He was charged with making and communicating a threat to bomb, destroy a place of assembly, building or structure, or a means of transportation.

No employees or customers were injured during the incident.

Bennett was held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Lynchburg with no bond.

The investigation was a collaborative investigative effort by the Bedford County Sheriffā€™s Office, Campbell County Sheriffā€™s Office, and the Lynchburg Police Department.
