Freezin' for a Reason: New River Polar Plunge Fest

RADFORD (WSLS 10) - It's time for chilly thrills at Bissett Park in Radford as the New River Polar Plunge Fest brings the freeze back to raise money for the Special Olympics.

The festival, which kicks off at 10 a.m. features free fun for the whole family. A costume contest, DJ, and door prizes rounds out the freezing fun.

And it's all the lead up for the plungers to jump in at noon.

Several teams have been raising money in order to plunge.

It's $100 to plunge but the more money raised, the cooler the prizes.

All the proceeds go to Special Olympics Virginia.
