CHRISTIANSBURG (WSLS 10) - The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office teamed up with the Christiansburg Police Department to create a safe zone for various exchanges.
The designated area, which can be used as a meeting spot for internet sales or child custody exchanges, is in the sheriff's office's parking lot.
The safe zone is monitored 24/7 by video cameras that feed into the jail. The zone also has a light to make night exchanges safer.
The two departments split the $4,000 cost of the project.
