ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -  Girl Scout Cookie season is going well this year for the Virginia Skyline Council.  We're told orders are slightly up due to 92% of the troops selling which is the highest number yet.

The new S'mores cookie is also a big hit.

"That cookie is such a delicious success for us. Nationwide we ran out of the cookie in late January but were able to bake more in order to restock the public's demand for it," said Jennifer Pfister, Marketing & Communications Director for Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline Council.

There are more than 300 booth sales planned over the six weeks so they are hoping for an overall successful sale!

This comes after last year's sales did not go well leaving the Girl Scouts with 1,800 cases of unsold cookies and a $250,000 loss. They sold those cookies for half off in June.

The money raised during the cookie sales goes to supporting the Girl Scouts and activities throughout the year.
