(WSLS 10) - Seventh Street is closed in downtown Lynchburg between Church and Main Streets. Crews will work to cap water lines and run electrical conduits. The closure is expected to last through Tuesday.

Today is Diane Teel Day in Martinsville. Teel is a former stock car racing driver. She was the first female driver to with a NASCAR track title and a sanctioned event in 1978. Teel then became the first female driver in the Late Model Sportsman Series, starting her first race in Martinsville in 1982.

Martinsville Fire and EMS will hand out awards tonight. Awards will be given out recognizing life saving efforts, smoke detector program accomplishments and educational accomplishments. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers. The department responds to more than 3,000 calls each year.

Governor Terry McAuliffe and the Department of Forestry will unveil new wildland firefighting vehicles today. The 119 vehicles will be use in fighting the nearly 1,000 wild fires seen across the Commonwealth each year.

The new President and CEO of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership will visit Danville today. Stephen Moret will top at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research this afternoon. He will meet with economic developers, business leaders and visit with several employers.
