Virginia wildfire season begins

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Spring wildfire season begins in Virginia.

The burning law prohibits open burning between the hours of midnight and 4 p.m.

According to the Virginia Department of Forestry, burning yard debris and trash is the number one cause of wildfires in the Commonwealth.

The burn ban continues through April 30th.

You could face a $500 fine and be charged for firefighting efforts if a fire gets out of control.
