More than 50 leaders tour Virginia's Blue Ridge as part of Leadership Roanoke Valley Program

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - More than 50 upcoming leaders went on a tour of Virginia's Blue Ridge on Wednesday as part of the Leadership Roanoke Valley Program to enhance their work as future leaders in the community.

The program, put on by the Roanoke Regional Chamber, aims to attract future leaders from all different industries.

This year, 60 candidates were selected to participate including Michaela Sigmon, Miss Virginia of 2016.

"I learned different parts and different things that Virginia offers here, things I didn't even know as Miss Virginia so now it will help me when I travel," said Sigmon.

This interactive program aims to help participants better understand issues facing the Roanoke region, as they prepare to become future leaders.
