11 arrested across VA in child sex sting

SPOTSYLVANIA (WWBT) - Eleven people are in jail in Virginia after a five-month cyber-sting operation led by the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say that 11 men thought they were talking online to a 13-year-old girl. The girl was actually an undercover deputy.

Investigators say that the men sent and asked for explicit photos and the conversations quickly turned to sex, with the men agreeing to meet the minor.

Captain Liz Scott with the Sheriff's Office said, "A couple using fake profiles, a couple using fake pictures, continued chats with what they thought was 13-year-old girl, they eventually told us their real name"

All 11 of the suspects were arrested and charged with a variety of offenses related to the solicitation of a minor child.

Investigators say parents should monitor their child's online activity.
