Crews respond after car crashes into home in Danville

DANVILLE (WSLS 10) - A Danville man is being ticketed after accidentally running his car into a home.

Firefighters responded to the 200 block of Meadowlark Dr. around 8:45 Friday morning for a report of a car into a home.

They determined the driver of the car intended to put the car in drive as he left his home but instead put it in reverse.

When he hit the gas, he sped backwards down the hill, took out a neighbor's car, and ended up slamming into a home.

Two people were inside, but neither they nor the driver of the car were hurt.

"We put a couple of T-posts inside the house, right at that wall that was damaged. That's just to ensure nothing will fall down," said Danville Fire Department Battalion Chief Brian Alderson. "We don't anticipate it, but that's just to make sure. We also contacted building inspection."

The driver has been charged with failure to maintain lane and driving with a suspended license.
